Hummingbirds and Butterflies

Inspired by the uniqueness of God's creation, from the peace of butterflies to the wonder of hummingbirds, I am reminded that you are also uniquely made. You are deeply valued and worthy of compassion as you navigate your own journey of healing and growth.

Brokenness and Heartache
Life has not been easy, but by God’s grace, I have risen from the ashes and been transformed from within. As a survivor of childhood, spiritual, and cult abuse, I understand the brokenness that can follow us into adulthood. Have you ever wondered why life feels so difficult or struggled with relationships and coping? I have, too.

Me during one of my chemo treatments

Facing cancer taught me how to find strength when I felt I had none left, and the loss of my adult son this past year has given me a perspective on grief that no one should have to face. These experiences have not broken me; they have equipped me. Today, I use that transformation to help you find your own way through the ashes and toward a life of healing and peace.

Walking through those valleys and facing insurmountable obstacles, including fear and grief, provided the fertile soil that enabled my growth and wisdom. Seeking God’s presence and embracing my spirituality empowered me to step into His purpose for my life.

My story encompasses trauma, fear, and grief, but it also holds peace, joy, and love. God has given me a passion for guiding others on their upward journey toward spiritual freedom, helping them develop healthy life skills, establish safe boundaries, set attainable goals, and find true purpose. While the ashes may seem daunting, the transformation from within will be the catalyst for your own journey toward self-assurance, confidence, and worth.

The Difference Between Coach and Therapist/Counselor

There is a distinct difference between a licensed therapist/counselor and a coach.  Therapists and counselors focus on diagnosing and treating mental health disorders by addressing past experiences and current symptoms.  Coaches help clients set and achieve personal goals, build skills, and improve performance without treating clinical conditions.

The Turning Point

What appeared to be a heart attack became the turning point that helped me break free from the abuse I endured at the hands of my pastor and employer while working at the church where I also worshipped.  I left my job, and after a lengthy struggle, finally left the church as well.

Fear prevented me from sharing the truth with my husband, leading to misunderstandings and confusion. Although my health seemed to improve for a while, symptoms resembling additional heart attacks returned months later. I also began experiencing nightmares, which placed further strain on our relationship.

It wasn’t until my husband came across a journal entry with a large, red-lettered title about an abusive situation that he learned about the abuse I had suffered at the hands of my pastor. That discovery marked the beginning of my understanding of what true love really was. Recognizing that he could not help me help me heal from the effects of the abuse on his own, we turned to a Christian therapist. Inviting God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit into my therapy sessions created a path toward healing from the effects of both my childhood trauma and pastoral abuse.

Nature and Me

Nature is a calming way for me to ground myself when life throws challenges my way. Watching butterflies and hummingbirds brings me a great deal of peace and joy. Breathing in the fresh air, interacting with horses, and feeding my chickens help calm my anxiety and soothe my fears. That’s why I suggest natural settings for coaching sessions with my clients whenever possible.

Transformation
           From Within

Healing woman

Abuse can affect the mind, emotions, body, relationships, and spiritual well-being.  It can leave a person feeling worthless, ashamed, fearful, disconnected, and unable to trust themselves or others.

I understand this because I have experienced it myself.  My healing journey taught me the importance of recognizing the inner strength, value, and abilities that abuse can conceal.  That understanding now shapes the way I coach others.

For me, inviting God into the healing process was essential.  Learning who God truly is and becoming more aware of His voice brought a deeper sense of healing than I had thought possible.  Changing the way I thought, allowing myself to process difficult emotions, connecting with nature, and learning practical life skills helped me begin rebuilding my life.

Establishing attainable goals and discovering a sense of purpose brought spiritual joy, peace, and confidence, qualities I once believed were out of reach.  My healing has been an ongoing transformation from within, rooted in a growing relationship with God rather than in external circumstances.  Through coaching, I support individuals as they reconnect with their value, identify their strengths, develop practical tools, set meaningful goals, and move toward a more purposeful life, with faith at the center of the process.

What Qualifies Me as a Mental Health Coach?

My journey of healing began with the realization of God's love and faithfulness, which shifted my perspective and opened my life to new possibilities.  Having walked the path of recovery myself, I understand how overwhelming it can feel to start over and build healthy life skills.

As a mental health coach for survivors of trauma and abuse, I combine my lived experience with professional training to help you navigate obstacles and move through the setbacks that are natural to healing.  My goal is to help you walk with God, rediscover your identity, and find a purpose that brings lasting fulfillment.  While my own faith is my foundation, I deeply respect all spiritual beliefs, including those who may nave none.

Writing from the Soul

My writing is a reflection of my soul. I have written a book of poems that weave together trauma and the lived experiences of my life, sharing pieces of my own story to invite readers into the "why" behind the words. Right now, I am pouring my heart into a memoir of my spiritual journey, which I hope to finish by the end of the year. I credit God for every word; He has been my guide and the source of inspiration for everything I have written and all the books yet to come.

Art & Healing

Drawing has been an integral part of my own healing journey, teaching me how to process emotion and find stillness.  This creative practice is woven into my work and the books I've written, reflecting the belief that healing often happens beyond words.  To support my community, I sell my original drawings, primarily of animals and scenery, with the proceeds directly funding future scholarships for clients who may not otherwise have the financial means to access coaching.
